Course Fee before (CTG Grant): $200.00

Course Fee after (CTG Grant): $10.00*

*(Subject to eligibility and the remaining amount of the care recipient’s CTG which is capped at $200 per year)

About

In this course, caregivers will be introduced to dementia, taught on the early signs and symptoms of dementia and educated on how to manage and support emotional and behavioural changes. Caregivers will also be trained on communication techniques and how to create or modify activities to engage a person with dementia.

Understanding Dementia

  • What is dementia
  • Diseases that contribute to dementia
  • Early signs and symptoms of dementia
  • Effects of Dementia on a person
  • How and where to seek help and treatment
  • Coming to terms with having dementia

Emotional and Behavioural Changes

  • Recognising the common emotional and behavioural changes in elderly with dementia
  • Coping with the emotional and behavioural changes
  • Managing the emotional and behavioural changes
  • Communication techniques when interacting with a person with dementia.
  • Verbal, non-verbal (pictures and gestures) and body language.
  • Creating activities to engage a person with dementia based on his or her needs, interests and abilities
  • Modifying activities to engage and cater to a person with dementia

Psychological Care‍

  • Recognising signs and symptoms of caregiver stress
  • Prevention of caregiver stress
  • Community resources and support groups

I did my research on Caregiver Training home-based courses for my new helper, and decided on Anglo Caregiver’s 4-hour one. Kate was efficient liaising with me on whatsapp about the documents required and confirmation of the training date. On the day itself Sri patiently gave detailed training on the ABCs of Daily Living (Set A). It was great that she could communicate in Bahasa with my Indo helper who’s taking care of my elderly mom with dementia. She not only explained caregiving tips in theory, but was also hands-on and reviewed how my helper was bathing my mom and changing diapers. I really appreciated that after the training Sri called me to go through in detail what she had trained my helper on, and also gave feedback on how my helper was doing, both in cognitive thinking and actual carrying out of procedures. She also kindly gave me some caregiving tips as she was familiar with the caregiver burnout stress people like myself are going through. She closed the entire process by telling me that Kate would be emailing me the payment receipt and course certificate. I was never left wondering. Thanks so much.

Engaged Anglo Nurse for 3rd times consecutively as they have a 4 hours home-based care giver training available for my helper. The entire appln was smooth and they are able to arrange for a trainer within 2 days. Training was conducted the following week. The trainer is fluent in a few languages and dialect, hence able to communicate with Indo helper and my mom easily. She is very patience and able to explain and demo well with helper. Her bubbly and chatty nature makes the training lively and enjoyable. Will engage them again.

The assigned personnel were patient and professional in training my new helper on the daily activities for my mum, example: how to transfer her from bed to wheelchair and vice versa and correct method to bathe, etc. She also guided her on how to exercise my mum’s hands and legs with clear explanation. We are very happy with the services from Anglo Nurses Pte Ltd.
